Google Reader – Simplify Your Online Reading

I’ve used NewsGator for several years now. After deciding that I want to keep up with certain industries and authors a little better, I decided it was time for a new solution…
I decided my needs were:

  • Simple
  • Fast
  • Easy to scan content, pick what I want to read

So I checked with my colleague Michael, and asked him what he was using. He keeps up with hundreds of sites, authors, and streams of information, so I knew he has a good solution.  He said to check out Google Reader.

I’ve had a Google account for years, and learned to love some of the things they are doing, so I checked it out.

Within about 5 minutes, I had entered in the 9 blogs I like to monitor, and added 3 more I was interested in.  It showed me the most recent 10 entries for each one (120 total).  Within about 15 minutes, I was all caught up!  I even used the simple interface to send some articles to Rick for his review on some things we’ll be doing here at Verus in the near future.

So, chalk one up to Google.  Once again, they’ve stuck by their rule of keeping it simple, fast and easy to use!

If you don’t have a Google account, get one today and check out their services.  You can learn more about Reader at http://www.google.com/reader/.

Happy reading!
